The first method that can be used in mitigation of this disease is known as expectant management. This is because, normally, the disease takes time to completely weaken the organ. Active surveillance is done to monitor the ailment by use of ultrasound to confirm if it is rapidly growing. The patient is also expected to use observations during the symptoms period to help in determining the degree of spread and this process usually requires clinic visits after every three months.

Prostrate cancer can also be stopped from spreading towards the bones. As part of its growth and development, it tends to bulge outwards heading to the bones which then causes them to hurt a lot. However, there is a medication that can mitigate this referred to Bisphosphonates. This drug prevents the cell from rapidly growing and some side effects the patient may experience are painful joints. Those suffering from kidney disorders are strongly advised not to use this drug.

Vaccines can also be employed as they are usually a combination of disease fighting cells and the disease causing cell. The outcome of this mixture is called Sipuleucel T and is very vital when the disease is in its later stages. Biochemists and other medical researchers have done tremendous work in inventing this vaccine. The biology behind it is that the white blood cells are boosted to fight with the cancerous antibodies. A patient may experience fever, fatigue and joint pains after a dosage is issued.

Chemotherapy is a treatment procedure in which the patient given anti cancer injections that spread throughout the body thus making it the most recommended procedure. It is mostly used when the disease has is in its advanced stages. The medications have proved to increase the lifespan of a patient. Some of its side-effects include hair and appetite loss, mouth sores and nausea.

Hormone therapy works well for it minimizes the levels of hormones associated with sexuality in the body. For example, men have testosterone hormone which boosts the growth and development of the prostate cancer cell. Whenever these levels are lowered, the affected cell shrinks and the patient is able to have a longer lifespan. The side effects are loss of muscularity and obesity.

Cryosurgery, which is facilitated by the ultrasound technology, can be used to freeze the cancerous cells making them inactive. The procedure involves the use of low temperature gases which are introduced into the organs keenly to avoid distraction of surrounding tissues. Side effects associated with this act are usually similar to those of a typical surgery.

Finally, radiation therapy uses electromagnetic waves to completely destroy the cancer cells. This can be through internal beam radiation or external radiation. Internal radiation is the most used procedure for it completely destroys the cell. The side effects include abdomen pains, inability to erect, diarrhea and fatigue.

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life The human body contains millions of cells that rely on healthy nutrition like proteins, vitamins and minerals. While the body can create some of these nutrients, it also requires essential vitamins and minerals from food sources. Every living organism depends on its cells to function normally. Often referred to as “the building blocks of life,” cells are the biological, structural and functional units that carry out tasks in an organism. A collection of cells working together is called a tissue, while a series of tissues performing organized functions are called organs. The human body contains trillions of cells, all with varying tasks that help support bodily organs; these include skin cells, nerve cells, blood cells, barrier function cells (supporting the lungs, gut) and more.
