Sarah Shares Her Excess Skin Surgery Results Following Her 10st 2lb Weight Loss

After losing 10st 2lbs with The New You Plan, Sarah was named a winner in our March/April Transformation Challenge. She put her £1000 cash winnings towards surgery in Turkey to have excess skin removed. Here, she shares how the procedure went and why she is living the life she always dreamed of.

After having my son and going through a marriage break-up, for 27 years I struggled with my weight, spending most of the time yo-yo dieting.

Then, one lunchtime my life took an unexpected turn. A work colleague was having her New You meal and I began asking questions about the plan, thinking that it sounded like something I would love to try. I then placed my order and excitedly waited for it to arrive.

When it did, armed with all the products, information and having joined Secret Slimmers on Facebook, little did I know the impact that New You would have on my life. Fast forward 10 months and I hit my target of a massive 10st 2lb weight loss.

Ever since reaching my target, I have been living in a dream world as I had really given up hope of ever being able to lose weight. Then by following New You Switch, I was able to maintain my amazing weight loss too, a task I had never been able to do before.

Now I could fit into size 10 clothes, having gone from a size 32. Moving was so much easier, people didn’t recognise me and I just felt a million dollars. The only downside was, having been big for so long, I had been left with lots of excess skin which no amount of exercise could help with. So, to complete my journey, I knew that I would need to have this skin removed.

I spoke to my GP, to see if I could have it performed on the NHS, but unfortunately, I couldn’t. I looked into having it done privately in the UK, but it was so costly. So, I then started looking at going abroad to Turkey.

I conducted lots of research and spoke to other people who had been there, and had had very good results so I booked to have my surgery done. I spoke to my family, friends and work, who were all so supportive and when I told my New You family that I was going, I had sooo many lovely messages of support. It was so touching.

So, on the 13th June this year, I boarded a plane and flew to Antalya in Turkey, for my Fleur de Lis tummy tuck, liposuction and breast reduction. I was very excited, but obviously nervous as well.  I landed and went straight for a pre-assessment and then to the hotel, where I was staying.

On the day of my surgery, I said goodbye to my Mum in the taxi. I did shed a tear or two, as I was going into the unknown, but I knew I needed to do this. Everyone was so friendly and professional so I was instantly made to feel at ease.

I met my Surgeon on the morning and before I knew it, my surgery was complete and I was back in my hospital room. My recovery period in Turkey went so well. I was in the hospital for two nights and received excellent care and then I had 7 nights in a hotel and was seen everyday by a private Nurse who changed my dressings.

When I saw the results of my surgery, I cried. I was so pleased with them!

I saw the Surgeon on day 6 and he was really happy with everything and deemed me fit to fly home. After 9 nights in Turkey, I made the journey home with my new body. I felt so well and as soon as I got home, it was amazing to see my family and friends and continue my recovery process.

I was off work for 6 weeks and when I returned, everyone thought I was a new person.

Thanks to the amazing New You and now following my surgery, I am walking around with a constant smile on my face. I’m healing well and living a life, that I could only ever dream of before. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to believe that I have achieved this.

I would definitely recommend having surgery in Turkey. Just make sure you do your research and follow all the advice you are given.

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life The human body contains millions of cells that rely on healthy nutrition like proteins, vitamins and minerals. While the body can create some of these nutrients, it also requires essential vitamins and minerals from food sources. Every living organism depends on its cells to function normally. Often referred to as “the building blocks of life,” cells are the biological, structural and functional units that carry out tasks in an organism. A collection of cells working together is called a tissue, while a series of tissues performing organized functions are called organs. The human body contains trillions of cells, all with varying tasks that help support bodily organs; these include skin cells, nerve cells, blood cells, barrier function cells (supporting the lungs, gut) and more. Cells rely on good nutrition for energy production and to prevent oxidative damage. The anatomy of a cell Cells in the human body are so tiny that they are invisible to th...
