Some Benefits Of Telehealth Solutions

By Katina Brady

By finding new ways and technologies to accomplish things in health care the modern system improves. Those living in Lawrence, KS will find that there are many advantages to telehealth solutions. Some that come to mind:

Patients will be able to remain in their own homes for longer. By monitoring patients and accessing health services remotely they will not need to stay in a care facility. Care facilities have been seen as necessary for chronic conditions, but leaving home to be cared for in a facility can cause extra distress to already overwhelmed patients.

The costs of long term health care can be significantly reduced. By monitoring a patient in their own home there are far less costs than if they require to be admitted to a care facility. The savings makes a big difference for many.

The frequency of emergency room visits will decrease. Many health concerns that might cause a patient sufficient concern to visit the emergency room can be accessed and treated at home with the proper guidance saving time and money in the emergency room.

Clinical work flow will be reduced. Doctors can monitor and access the progress of their patients remotely without having to book office visits. This benefits the patient who will receive closer monitoring from their doctor who will be better able to understand their current condition. It also benefits the doctor who will be able to use his office hours more efficiently and see a greater number of patients.

Hospital re-admissions will be reduced. By monitoring a patient's condition remotely they will be more likely to follow the physician's directions which help their condition to improve, and also should their condition begin to lapse the treatment can be updated and improved before the patient's condition deteriorates sufficiently to send them back to the hospital.

The quality of life that patients experience will improve. Having a chronic illness means that the patient will have many appointments to travel to, so by allowing them to be monitored remotely through the phone line they will have less time spent at appointments. Less time traveling to visit doctors gives patients more time to spend doing activities that they enjoy and bring them satisfaction.

The level of patient compliance will increase. A patient that is being monitored will more strictly follow what their doctor has prescribed for them and will be better at remembering to take pills. Exercise that has been prescribed and restrictions on smoking or drinking would be more likely to be followed as well.

The education of patients about their condition and self-care will increase. The system of remote health care allows patients to feel empowered about their health care, encouraging them to learn and to take action. When they are educated to participate more fully in their own care there will be better outcomes.

The risk of patient mortality will reduce. When a patient with a chronic condition is monitored remotely on a regular basis, any change in their condition will be quickly noticed and they will be able to be treated before their condition deteriorates too far. This is a comfort to those with chronic conditions, to their family and to their doctor.

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life The human body contains millions of cells that rely on healthy nutrition like proteins, vitamins and minerals. While the body can create some of these nutrients, it also requires essential vitamins and minerals from food sources. Every living organism depends on its cells to function normally. Often referred to as “the building blocks of life,” cells are the biological, structural and functional units that carry out tasks in an organism. A collection of cells working together is called a tissue, while a series of tissues performing organized functions are called organs. The human body contains trillions of cells, all with varying tasks that help support bodily organs; these include skin cells, nerve cells, blood cells, barrier function cells (supporting the lungs, gut) and more. Cells rely on good nutrition for energy production and to prevent oxidative damage. The anatomy of a cell Cells in the human body are so tiny that they are invisible to th...
