Top Drugs You Get To Familiarized With During ACLS Classes

By Ruthie Calderon

Medical courses are being offered to people these days. You can them them up either in the physical school or university. Not only in physical school or university, you may also get the online ones. Example of one you can take should be the ACLS classes in Houston. In this course, you get to know more of intravenous meds. Here are some examples of the intravenous meds you will be introduced during your class.

First, you can get to know more about adenosine. The said IV drug is popular because of its anti-arrhythmia properties. As an IV drug, this is one of the medications that are used for stable supraventricular tachycardia.

Amiodarone. This is another intravenous med that you can use when you have patients with the v-fib or heart that actually does not empty with contractions similar to mild quivers which are not sufficient for sustaining life. The v-tach patients also enjoy the benefits of using amiodarone. The V-tach patients are those patients suffering from a heart that pumps way too fast than what their body can keep up with.

You can also get to know more about atropine. This is the kind of intravenous drug that is used to help treat bradycardia. Bradycardia is a condition where the patient experiences a low heart rate. The purpose of administering atropine to patients suffering from bradycardia is to block one's vagus nerve.

Epinephrine should also be introduced to you during class. This is one of the IV drugs used for increasing the cardiac output momentarily. This can then decrease blood flow to the limbs. When the blood flow to the limbs is significantly decreased, ten the blood output from one's heart will consequently increase too.

Lidocaine. This is another addition you can add to your knowledge of intravenous meds. If you know more about lidocaine, then you can find it useful for treating the ventricular arrhythmia. This will then help your patients with the irregular heart rate. With the lidocaine, you can prevent the oxygenated blood from being circulated into the patient's body. An alternative for this is procainamide.

Procainamide. You will find this as a good alternative to lidocaine when you have run out of the said intravenous med. This is another anti-arrhythmia meds that patients can be administered with. It has a very effective result when used to counteract a number of arrhythmias. The procainamide is actually as effective as the lidocaine.

You should have an idea on what magnesium sulfate is for too. The said drug is another one of the IV drugs you should be familiar with because it is an anti-arrhythmia drug useful for the patients. It is used for the peculiar and rare ventricular arrhythmia known as torsades de pointes. Patients low in magnesium can be administered with this IV drug as well.

Vasopressin. It should be good for you to be knowledgeable about the use of vasopressin. This is mainly because the said intravenous meds can be utilized for increasing the cardiac output. With the said intravenous meds, you can improve the circulation to and from vital organs. It should be helpful in various medical conditions.

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life The human body contains millions of cells that rely on healthy nutrition like proteins, vitamins and minerals. While the body can create some of these nutrients, it also requires essential vitamins and minerals from food sources. Every living organism depends on its cells to function normally. Often referred to as “the building blocks of life,” cells are the biological, structural and functional units that carry out tasks in an organism. A collection of cells working together is called a tissue, while a series of tissues performing organized functions are called organs. The human body contains trillions of cells, all with varying tasks that help support bodily organs; these include skin cells, nerve cells, blood cells, barrier function cells (supporting the lungs, gut) and more.
