Life before New You

How did you discover the New You Plan?
I was looking up another plan doing some research and the New You Plan came up in my search and it appeared to have more products and a bigger variety. You also don’t have to go and see a consultant and get weighed regularly so it just seemed like a better fit for me. And that’s why I chose it.

Describe how you felt before starting the plan?
To be honest I just felt tired all the time. I had no energy, I had no motivation and I just didn’t feel like myself. I just couldn’t be bothered with anything. I didn’t want to go out or do anything. Everything was just a lot of effort.

Taking the plunge

What was your first week like?
I was actually quite pleasantly surprised. I’ve tried every diet going over the years, all the well known diets. I was surprised with how tasty the meals and shakes are and all the different varieties of snacks especially 99% of them you would never know are diet snacks. Over all the flavors and the variety and how filling everything was. The first couple of days were very easy. I was very determined from day 3. The headaches and tiredness started and I started to doubt it but I decided to stick it out and in the first week I lost just over half a stone and that gave me the motivation to continue.

What are your favorite meals and snacks?
My favorite meal I have every night is a chocolate shake and coconut shakes blended with lots of ice to make it thick and creamy and I have that in a reusable cup. It’s so creamy and tasty and filling. I never get sick of it, it’s absolutely delicious. My favorite snack is the chocolate covered protein balls, although I have to be very careful because I could just eat them all. That’s why I only order a few packs at a time because they are so nice I could just eat them all in one go.

More motivations

What was your biggest non scale victory?
Well it was recently my birthday and I had asked my partner for some new pajamas and he said they only had a size 12 so he got them as a motivation for me to fit into and they actually fit perfectly so that was a lovely surprise.

What was your biggest motivator for staying on plan?
The children, I really want to be fit and healthy for them. I want to be able to run around the park and play with them. I don’t want to be a frumpy mum standing at the school gates. I wanted to do it for them and be someone they can be proud of. I don’t want them to go down the same path I did. I want them to be fit and healthy and have a positive life for themselves.

The scales and beyond

How has the plan changed your life? How has your health improved?
It has just made me so much happier. Obviously I have more energy, I feel healthier, I look healthier. I’m obviously thinner so I feel and look better. I can go back into the highstreet and go into a shop and buy clothes that fit comfortably. Everything in life is just so much better. I feel happier and other people actually comment on that, it’s just been amazing. My health has definitely improved, my skin and hair have improved. My skin isn’t so dry, I have a lot more stamina so I walk everywhere now. I don’t really drive anymore because I prefer to walk. I’m just so much more comfortable doing it now.

Since losing weight, what is your happiest memory?
Well there’s a soft play area down the road from us that my toddler loves to go to. And part of it has these very small nets that you have to squeeze through as they are designed for children. And before losing weight i would have never dreamed about trying to go in there, which resulted in my daughter not wanting to go in without me going with her. And now I can go in with her and crawl around with her and not worry about getting stuck. She loves it and I love it.

What is the nicest compliment you have received since losing weight?
That would have to be a lady that I work with. So I had a baby in October and she saw me and said who has a baby and looks better than they did before pregnancy which was nice to hear.

Sound advice

What advice would you give anyone thinking of starting the plan?

I would say it can be quite challenging, but if you stick to it you will get the results and it makes it all worth it. It’s easier to stick to the short term to get to your long term goal.

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life The human body contains millions of cells that rely on healthy nutrition like proteins, vitamins and minerals. While the body can create some of these nutrients, it also requires essential vitamins and minerals from food sources. Every living organism depends on its cells to function normally. Often referred to as “the building blocks of life,” cells are the biological, structural and functional units that carry out tasks in an organism. A collection of cells working together is called a tissue, while a series of tissues performing organized functions are called organs. The human body contains trillions of cells, all with varying tasks that help support bodily organs; these include skin cells, nerve cells, blood cells, barrier function cells (supporting the lungs, gut) and more. Cells rely on good nutrition for energy production and to prevent oxidative damage. The anatomy of a cell Cells in the human body are so tiny that they are invisible to th
