Lucy Has Lost Over 6 Stone & Feels Happier & Healthier

Lucy Has Lost Over 6 Stone & Feels Happier & Healthier

Embarking on a weight loss journey is often a daunting prospect, especially when it feels like a familiar cycle of gaining and losing pounds. For Lucy, it wasn’t until the realisation dawned while chasing after her youngest child that she knew something had to change. Struggling with exhaustion and the restrictions her weight caused, she decided to take a leap and try the New You Plan.

Despite initial doubts, what followed was a transformation that went beyond shedding over 6 stone; it brought newfound happiness, energy, and confidence. Here is her story…

Before New You…

I have been big my whole adult life. I have at points lost weight but it’s always gone back on and usually with some extra too. I had my youngest child a year and a half ago and it was probably once she started walking that it really hit me that I needed to do something about my weight. I want to be the best mum to my girls and don’t want them to miss out on things because of my weight. I also need to be able to run around after a toddler who never sits still. I was at the point where everything was hard work. Walking to school twice a day left me exhausted and getting up and down off the floor / sofa 3 million times a day wasn’t easy!

Having done similar very low calorie diets before and knowing they would be the quickest way to achieve results, I ordered my first selection of products from the New You Plan last summer but just couldn’t get in the zone to get started. We went on a wonderful holiday at the end of August and although we had a lovely time, I know I would have done so much more if I hadn’t been the size I was.

Getting Started…

One day in September I just woke up and decided that was the day I was going to start. My friends who I told thought I was mad as I had a lot going on in my personal life and they thought this would be one more layer of stress but it was actually exactly what I needed and gave me control over at least one aspect of life. I hardly told anyone at the beginning because I didn’t think I’d stick at it and didn’t want to admit I’d failed. But soon enough I got in to my stride, saw the pounds falling off and realised that I actually could do it!

Life Changing Results…

The differences in my life have been enormous since following this plan. Not only am I now over 6 stone lighter but I feel so much happier and healthier. I can out run my toddler now which is no mean feat! I don’t put off doing things because I’m too exhausted, I just get on with anything and everything life throws at me.

Kitchen discos are a regular occurrence with my girls and I can out dance them both (even if my 8 year old thinks I’m embarrassing!) I feel so much more confident and when out shopping recently I did a double take when I walked past a mirror as I couldn’t believe those were my legs! I love that I can now walk into a normal shop rather than having to buy online to find something that fitted. I started at a size 24/26 and I am currently comfortably a size 18, but with my jeans definitely getting looser, I will hopefully be a size 16 soon. I recently cut my hair short and joined the gym, I am taking so much more care of myself and it feels great.

I didn’t set a goal when I started as I honestly didn’t think I’d make it through the first week but as I’ve seen what I’ve achieved I have set myself a goal to lose 100lbs – I love a round number! I may well carry on after that but that seems like a massive achievement and I can’t wait to get to that point.

Embracing Amazing Feedback

All my friends and family have been so supportive and it’s been staggering to get so many compliments on how I’m looking. Funnily enough, in the last month, as the weather has got warmer and I’ve finally stopped wearing my huge coat that is 3 – 4 sizes too big, I’ve had so many people commenting on my weight loss on the school run. I had been worried that no one could really see a difference but once the giant coat came off, people have been pleasantly shocked. One parent on the school run, who I hadn’t seen for months, walked straight past me as she simply didn’t recognise me. When I said hello, she did a comedy level double take!

The Journey Continues…

I am so proud of what I’ve achieved and I’m excited to see where the rest of this journey takes me. Up to now, I have been doing full meal replacement with the exception of my re-feeds after each 12 week block, but I have looked in to the Switch plan and it’s actually given me so much hope that for once, I will be able to maintain this weight loss. I’ve sold all my bigger clothes and I’m loving shopping for new clothes for the first time in years.

Come on 100lbs – I’m coming for you!

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life The human body contains millions of cells that rely on healthy nutrition like proteins, vitamins and minerals. While the body can create some of these nutrients, it also requires essential vitamins and minerals from food sources. Every living organism depends on its cells to function normally. Often referred to as “the building blocks of life,” cells are the biological, structural and functional units that carry out tasks in an organism. A collection of cells working together is called a tissue, while a series of tissues performing organized functions are called organs. The human body contains trillions of cells, all with varying tasks that help support bodily organs; these include skin cells, nerve cells, blood cells, barrier function cells (supporting the lungs, gut) and more. Cells rely on good nutrition for energy production and to prevent oxidative damage. The anatomy of a cell Cells in the human body are so tiny that they are invisible to th...
