£100K Transformation Challenge – From Struggles to Success: How Sarah Won Our Summer Slim Down Challenge & £3000!

Meet Sarah, the overall winner of our July/August Summer Slim Down Transformation Challenge, where she not only transformed her health but also walked away with an incredible £3000 cash prize!

After years of struggling with weight gain and low confidence, Sarah took a bold step in January, determined to inspire others by proving that The New You Plan truly works. Fast forward to today, she’s lost 5 stone and rediscovered a sense of vitality she hadn’t felt in decades. In this interview, Sarah shares her journey—from the emotional moment she decided to make a change, to her newfound energy, and even fitting back into her wedding dress. Let her inspiring story motivate you to start your own transformation!

New You: Sarah, why did you decide to join the Transformation Challenge?

Sarah: I joined the challenge as I wanted to inspire other members and prove to people that the plan really works. Sometimes you see things on the internet and you think: “Oh, just another diet or whatever”. I think it’s really important to show people and to prove that it does work. For me, posting my photos, it’s not something I do very often, not the bigger photos of myself. But it’s been a boost for me as well to be able to do that because of my confidence. I’ve got all my confidence back because I’ve lost the weight.

New You: How did you feel when you found out you were the overall winner?

Sarah: I couldn’t believe it. I’m proud of myself for what I’ve achieved and I’m proud that I’ve persevered with it. I was just absolutely over the moon. I never thought that I’d be the winner.

Getting started…

New You: What led to you starting the plan?

Sarah: A family member was seriously ill for many years, and I’d been comfort eating for a very long time. It got to the point where I was going for walks with my boys and sometimes I just couldn’t go any further because I was suffering. I was out of breath, walking up hills, where I shouldn’t have been. And in January, it was just a wake-up call, really, that I had to do something about it. And because I’m over 50 as well, if I don’t lose it now, it’ll get harder as I get older. A big reason for starting was just lack of confidence. My confidence was all the way down. And that in turn brings on depression and not feeling good about yourself, especially the confidence side of it.

I tried so many things previously and nothing really worked. So I just got into my head that I’m over 50 now, going through the menopause and I probably wouldn’t be able to lose it. It was really getting me down.

New You: And tell us about that first week…

Sarah: I remember going to a supermarket to do the weekly shop for the family. And I found it really, really hard looking at all the food on the shelves. But I coped. I started thinking about other things, such as the holiday I had planned. This worked to distract myself from wanting food. The following week, before doing the food shop, I had one of my packets beforehand to make sure I was full. So it didn’t quite have that desperate hungry feeling.

It got a lot easier from then on. And it gets to the point where it’s the norm. So you don’t really miss food. It’s so important to drink that 4 litres of water in between as well, because if you don’t, you’re going to feel more hungry. That’s another thing I’ve learnt.

New You: What are your go-to meals & snacks?

Sarah: I love them all! Recently I’ve been starting to experiment by mixing packs. I like most of them, but my favourites are the Cottage Pie and Irish Stew. I love the Bars, especially the Strawberry and White Chocolate and Apple & White Chocolate ones. And they’re quite handy for work. Sometimes I don’t have time to wait for the kettle, because I could be on lunchtime duty, so there’s not much time. They’re handy. And the Soups too – especially the Leek one. I also enjoy the Burger Mix dipped in the mushroom soup.

For snacks, I love the Raspberry and Chocolate Wafers, the Bacon and Chicken Crisps. I’ll have a pack of Crisps nearly every day.

Life changing…

How would you say the plan has changed your life?

Sarah: It’s been amazing. I’ve had some comments from people on Facebook, saying that I look 15 or even 20 years younger. I also feel it as well. I can honestly say I feel better now than what I’ve done for a very long time. I’ve got more energy and confidence than I did in my twenties. I look and feel younger and I can do so much more with my kids. It just makes me so happy to be able to do things again.

Sometimes I just find it hard to believe that I can actually go to a clothes shop, because I’ve had to change my wardrobe completely. And it’s so nice to pick up clothes. The clothes I used to pick up and say: “Oh, that looks really nice, but there’s no way it’ll fit me”. But it actually does now. So that gives you a boost as well. It’s just all these positive things. It’s just an amazing feeling.

New You: What has being on plan taught you so far?

Sarah: Self-discipline, mainly. It’s really important to have that and to drink those 4 litres of water. Another important thing that I do see on the Facebook group is when people ask how often to weigh themselves. For me, I kept it to once a week because you can actually see the difference. On a daily basis, it’s bound to go up and down. And if you notice that you’ve just gone up a little bit because of other factors within your body, sometimes it can put people off. So it’s really important, for me, once a week worked.

New You: Any memorable non-scale victories you’d like to share?

Sarah: This might be a bit strange, but when I got married 22 years ago, I was size 10. I kept my wedding dress in the wardrobe since. I was going through my wardrobe last year and I was intrigued. So I tried to put the wedding dress on and it wouldn’t go past my hips and I just put it back in the wardrobe. Anyway, a couple of months ago, I was going through my wardrobe and I tried the dress and it actually fitted me. And not only could I get it on, I could zip it up as well.

I think that that’s when it hit me how much weight I have lost. Because I never thought I’d go back to that size again.

New You: What are you most looking forward to when you reach your goal?

Sarah: Probably having a better figure. I’m going to start going to the gym to try and trim down and tone up to be able to go on holiday and wear nice bathing costume. I’m looking forward to going onto Switch, experimenting a bit with that, and just carrying on what I’m doing, really.

I’m also looking forward to spending more time with the family, knowing that I’m able to do things and not have to pull out because of my confidence, or the worry I won’t been able to do it. I think they go hand in hand.

New You: What is the nicest compliment you have received since losing weight?

Sarah: A lot of people have been so kind – it’s just amazing how many people comment on the posts that you put in the groups. And that’s a great boost. And that’s what I want to do to other people. It’s so important to feel supported. But there are 3 – I had to write them down. One of them is: “Honestly not seen a transformation this amazing before. You look like you have taken 15 years off your age.” And then: “You look amazing, Sarah, What an inspiration for the rest of us.” And the final one: “Wow, the first and last photo could be snapshots of mother and daughter. Not only you’ve lost weight, it looks to me like you’ve lost 20 years.”

New You: If you could go back in time to when you were beginning the plan, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Sarah: I think discipline is very important and you need to be in the right state of mind. Set yourself a target. In the past, I’ve always thought “Sure going out for one meal won’t matter.” But then the same thing would happen tomorrow and the day after. But this time I haven’t done that because the meals are so nice and the discipline has been there because I wanted so badly to lose weight. And another thing I do is when you start thinking about food, you just distract yourself by thinking about something else. Like I go to the garden or I finish something off that I didn’t finish in work. It doesn’t have to be for long, just a few seconds just to get your mind off food. The temptation for food doesn’t last for long. Just stick with it!

Whether you want to lose half a stone or 10 stone*, have a slimmer figure, or are just looking to get maximum nutrition in minimum time, then New You can make the perfect partner to get you to where you want to be.

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life The human body contains millions of cells that rely on healthy nutrition like proteins, vitamins and minerals. While the body can create some of these nutrients, it also requires essential vitamins and minerals from food sources. Every living organism depends on its cells to function normally. Often referred to as “the building blocks of life,” cells are the biological, structural and functional units that carry out tasks in an organism. A collection of cells working together is called a tissue, while a series of tissues performing organized functions are called organs. The human body contains trillions of cells, all with varying tasks that help support bodily organs; these include skin cells, nerve cells, blood cells, barrier function cells (supporting the lungs, gut) and more. Cells rely on good nutrition for energy production and to prevent oxidative damage. The anatomy of a cell Cells in the human body are so tiny that they are invisible to th...
