50 & Fabulous: Charlotte Loses 5 Stone Before Her Birthday!

50 & Fabulous: Charlotte Loses 5 Stone Before Her Birthday!

Embarking on a new journey can often feel daunting, yet profoundly exhilarating. This is the story of Charlotte, who faced her challenges head-on and transformed her life with The New You Plan. Just a few months ago, Charlotte felt shackled by her circumstances—multiple injuries had significantly limited her mobility, and emotional eating had caused her weight to spiral. But everything changed when she discovered The New You Plan.

In her interview, Charlotte shares her heartfelt experiences from her initial struggles to the triumphant moments that have marked her new beginning. From organising her meals to finding joy in unexpected flavours, Charlotte’s journey is not just about losing weight but about gaining a whole new perspective on life. Her story is an inspiring testament to the power of resilience and the profound impact of a supportive community. Here is what she had to say…

Starting Her New You Journey

New You: What led to you starting the plan?

Charlotte: For many years, I tried different plans and was never terribly successful. Or, if I did lose weight, I ended up putting it all back on. 6 years ago I suffered multiple injuries, which led to my mobility being significantly reduced. Over the last 6 years, I gained 6 stone, as a result of both life-changing injuries and quite honestly, eating my way through the trauma. Back in March, when I started The New You Plan, I weighed the heaviest I have ever weighed in my life. I knew that something needed to change.

New You: And tell us about that first week…

Charlotte: I was really excited to start! I’d done lots and lots of research and reading about The New You Plan on the website, including a few of the customer blogs, so I was well-prepared and had realistic expectations. I didn’t expect it to be easy – nothing worth doing ever is – but I was really impressed with the way in which the plan is set out and more importantly, that it’s simple to follow! I was well prepared for my first week – I’d got organised by creating a ‘New You cupboard’ and sorting out my packs into days. Organising really helped me in boosting my mindset and also meant I wasn’t so overwhelmed with the choices of foods! I was really open-minded about trying all of the packs and didn’t anticipate really liking all of them – but I did! I don’t think I expected something so tasty and filling and easy to prepare, but all of the packs had clear instructions and were genuinely flavoursome. I genuinely didn’t have any ‘lows’ in the first week, other than perhaps “Why hadn’t I started this a long time ago?!”

New You: What are your go-to meals & snacks?

Charlotte: I genuinely like everything, but I do have my ‘favourites’! My go-to Meal Packs have to be the Spaghetti Bolognese, the White Chocolate & Raspberry Shake and Strawberry & White Chocolate Bar. Snack-wise, I love the new Lemon Meringue Fluffy Bar, the Wafers and Bacon Tortillas.

Life changing results…

How would you say the plan has changed your life?

Charlotte: The most noticeable change is in my mental health and wellbeing. I feel much better about myself and more confident. Whilst I will always have issues with my mobility, I feel healthier and in a better mindset to tackle challenges that I otherwise wouldn’t have dreamed of trying. I sleep better than I’ve slept in a long time and I have noticed a hugely positive difference in the health of my skin, hair and nails.

New You: What has being on plan taught you so far?

Charlotte: My relationship with food has significantly changed. Pre-Plan, food was often used for comfort. Or I’d eat when I was bored. Or when I didn’t feel great. Now, I am much more in tune with my body and know when to eat, what quantity of food I need and what to eat. I was, like many other people on the plan, delighted that it actually worked brilliantly! I also know that being part of a community of like-minded people, all sharing the same goal, is hugely important. I don’t think I’d have done so well if it wasn’t for Secret Slimmers/New You Plan Total community groups and the growing community that readily and honestly celebrates your wins with you!

New You: What are you most looking forward to when you reach your goal?

Charlotte: As I’ve already reached my ‘first goal’, I thought I might ‘stop’ and go on to Maintenance. However, I know that I can now think about being a ‘healthy’ weight and how to get there. I’m really looking forward to the feeling that I’ve worked really hard to get to my goal, but also the sense that ‘if I can do this, what else can I achieve?’

New You: Any memorable non-scale victories you’d like to share?

Charlotte: I took off my engagement ring 6 years ago as it wouldn’t fit on my fingers. However, recently I’ve been able to wear it again – and now it’s a little loose! I think perhaps the biggest thing has been that I’ve been confident enough to try getting on a bike – which I knew wasn’t going to be the easiest thing. However, I found the confidence to try – and with a bit of help in the form of an Assist bike, I’ve been able to slowly ride around – which is a huge thing for me!

New You: What is the nicest compliment you have received since losing weight?

Charlotte: Lots of people have said how healthy I look, which is a real compliment.

New You: If you could go back in time to when you were beginning the plan, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Charlotte: Be kind to yourself – some weeks are ‘harder’ than others and the same amount of weight won’t fall off each week. Have faith in the plan – stick to it and it really works!

Whether you want to lose half a stone or 10 stone*, have a slimmer figure, or are just looking to get maximum nutrition in minimum time, then New You can make the perfect partner to get you to where you want to be.

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life The human body contains millions of cells that rely on healthy nutrition like proteins, vitamins and minerals. While the body can create some of these nutrients, it also requires essential vitamins and minerals from food sources. Every living organism depends on its cells to function normally. Often referred to as “the building blocks of life,” cells are the biological, structural and functional units that carry out tasks in an organism. A collection of cells working together is called a tissue, while a series of tissues performing organized functions are called organs. The human body contains trillions of cells, all with varying tasks that help support bodily organs; these include skin cells, nerve cells, blood cells, barrier function cells (supporting the lungs, gut) and more. Cells rely on good nutrition for energy production and to prevent oxidative damage. The anatomy of a cell Cells in the human body are so tiny that they are invisible to th...
