How Tom Found Control and Lost 6st* with The New You Plan

How Tom Found Control and Lost 6st* with The New You Plan

In the storm of life’s unforeseen upheavals, finding something to control can often provide the grounding we desperately need. For Tom, the catalyst was losing his job and stepping into the role of a primary caregiver for his grandfather. Amidst the turbulence, Tom chose to take charge of his health and embarked on a transformative journey with The New You Plan. His story is not just about shedding pounds; it’s a testament to regaining confidence, finding joy in new routines, and embracing life’s possibilities with renewed vigour.

In his interview, Tom shares how the plan catalysed a profound change in his life, offering insights that can inspire many who might find themselves in similar circumstances.

Getting started…

New You: What led to you starting the plan?

Tom: At the start of 2024 I found out that the 77 year old company I had worked at for 9 years was going to close down and everyone who worked there would be made redundant over the next couple of months. At the same time my grandfather’s health started to deteriorate so I became his primary carer. With all the negative things happening around me that I had little control over, I knew I had to take control of my weight to inject some positivity and retain some sense of control when other things were going wrong.

My mum had started The New You Plan a few months prior. She had lost a couple of stone and kept saying how great all the products had been so I decided to go for it.

New You: And tell us about that first week…

Tom: I found the first week pretty good. I did a VLCD/TFR about 15 years ago and knew that day 2-4 could be the trickiest but I also knew that after that it would become a lot easier so I kept my head down and stuck to plan and honestly, I didn’t have any real issues.

New You: What are your go-to meals & snacks?

Tom: Now that I’ve tried everything, I’m pretty settled on what I like the most. I love Chocolate Shakes, Spaghetti and Spicy Noodle meals, any of the Crisps and most of the Bars so I quite often tend to have nearly the same each day and just alternate Crisps/Bar flavours.

Life changing results…

How would you say the plan has changed your life?

Tom: Losing weight has had a massive impact so far. Becoming a carer for a family member can be incredibly demanding both physically and mentally but to have lost 6 stone makes the world of difference and I couldn’t imagine not having done it.

New You: What has being on plan taught you so far?

Tom: Being on plan helps me structure my days and creates good routines. In the first few months I was trying all the products to get a sense of what I liked the most and no matter what I was having, it was incredibly easy to fit into my day.

New You: What are you most looking forward to when you reach your goal?

Tom: I can’t wait to get some new clothes. I’d like to wait until I’m at or very close to goal before I go crazy though.

New You: Any memorable non-scale victories you’d like to share?

Tom: The main one is that I now no longer have anxiety about flying anywhere. I’ve not had the chance to go abroad this year for various reasons but I’m now really looking forward to being able to, whereas before I was happy to stay at home because I had so much anxiety about fitting in an airplane seat and/or needing a seatbelt extender.

New You: What is the nicest compliment you have received since losing weight?

Tom: I’ve had a couple of really nice ones. I really like that people say I look younger. As you get older, that seems to become a nicer compliment over time. The other really nice one was when someone said I looked happy again – that hit deeply.

New You: If you could go back in time to when you were beginning the plan, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Tom: I’d tell myself to get started ASAP – six months earlier if possible. Just get started and don’t look back, the future is so much brighter.

Whether you want to lose half a stone or 10 stone*, have a slimmer figure, or are just looking to get maximum nutrition in minimum time, then New You can make the perfect partner to get you to where you want to be.

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life

Cells: The Building Blocks of Life The human body contains millions of cells that rely on healthy nutrition like proteins, vitamins and minerals. While the body can create some of these nutrients, it also requires essential vitamins and minerals from food sources. Every living organism depends on its cells to function normally. Often referred to as “the building blocks of life,” cells are the biological, structural and functional units that carry out tasks in an organism. A collection of cells working together is called a tissue, while a series of tissues performing organized functions are called organs. The human body contains trillions of cells, all with varying tasks that help support bodily organs; these include skin cells, nerve cells, blood cells, barrier function cells (supporting the lungs, gut) and more. Cells rely on good nutrition for energy production and to prevent oxidative damage. The anatomy of a cell Cells in the human body are so tiny that they are invisible to th...
